Animation supervisor and director. I started to draw and illustrate professionally 26 years ago. I love animation because of its power to inspire, educate and arouse audience feelings through storytelling and beauty. Walt Disney pathos, "That quality or property of anything which touches the feelings or excites emotions and passions" - (Webster)- always was my inspiration.
I took the decision to leave Spain 15 years ago to work for Steven Spielberg in England, leaving behind my own studio, where I learned the basics of the industry working on Hanna-Barbera TV series during my University years. Do you remember the Flintstones and the Jetsons?. Yeaph, made in Spain.
It turned to be a good decision, since I got 6 months of training from the best people in the industry, and that's when I realized that in this life, one can never stop learning, unless one wants to find him/herself zapping in front of a TV for hours. Miguel's opportunity came when ILM offered him to join them into the world of computer graphics 19 years ago. His knowledge of 2D animation, ideas, passion, and teaching skills, soon made him animation supervisor and director at the George Lucas company, where he had the chance to work with directors as Stephen Sommers, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ang Lee, and George Miller, for films that were nominated and won Academy Awards. He's also pursuing other interests like psychology, teaching, non verbal communication, music and writing, but his main one is to create enticing stories with interesting and deep characters to captivate audiences. He likes to think out of the box and to bring new aspects, angles and ideas to a world deprived of real beauty. He is also passionate about creating nurturing environments with groups that have his same goal.
